A Child's Garden of Teabaggery

Mere words cannot describe the array of cognitive disabilities in evidence in Portsmouth yesterday.

Hence this gallery:

Family Values, Or, Will No One Think Of The Children?

More -- much, much more -- after the jump.

A number of protesters were wearing little Liberty Tree pins with the image on the sign here.  Nice, unless the reference was intended to be to Jefferson's quote that "The tree of Liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

I missed most of this (0.00 / 0)
but, yep, that is what I saw as I walked by.

www.KusterforCongress.com

Probably a higher degree of literacy (4.00 / 6)
in cages at the Franklin Park Zoo.

One thing is for certain, it is a tragedy that our educational system has obviously failed this sizable population of adults. They can't write, they can't read, they can't count, and know practically nothing about civics, history, geography, economics, and science.

Time to start the No Teabagger Left Behind program...

I took a photo of what appeared to be a couple... (4.00 / 8)
The woman (she is in one of the photos above) holding a sign "keep your laws off my body" standing very closely to a man holding a "stop abortion now" sign. Even when I mentioned to them their conflicting positions, they didn't understand.

Democrats solve problems, Republicans sit and say no.

These people are convinced that the function of government is (0.00 / 0)
to apply force to coerce their behavior--i.e. to punish or execute the non-compliant.  The concept that the agents of government are to do their bidding to deal with the vagaries of man and nature is not familiar to them.

To be fair, ask yourself whether you'd entrust the nation's health care to Dubya?  Under Dubya, Texas actually passed a law providing immunity to health care providers who decided to remove treatment from people who couldn't pay the bill.  Also, "tort reform" which Republicans are enthusiastic about, aims to remove liability from institutions for the negligence of the people they employ because insurance premiums have been going through the roof.  It was thought that insurance companies would apply pressure to insure that incompetents aren't retained.  Unfortunately, it seems that insurance, by shifting responsibility, actually promotes irresponsible behavior--sort of reminds me of my neighbor (a pillar of his church) who was pleased every time one of his teenagers crashed another car that the insurance paid more than the vehicle was worth.

Insurance has had a similar effect on law enforcement.  In order to qualify for liability coverage, officers have to be trained.  But what they're trained in isn't the law or constitutional obligations that are supposed to govern their behavior.  Rather, what they're trained in is how to ensure that their actions are according to approved procedures so a charge of negligence won't hold up in court.
We citizens pay for CALEA certification and training which doesn't improve the performance of officers one bit.

Re:My Neighbor (4.00 / 1)
I just looked at the photos. I was disturbed to say the least. Then I got to the Obama Nazi Healthcare photo of the Larouche people...the young woman on the left in is my neighbor! Should make for an interesting block party this year!

The amazing irony (4.00 / 3)
of Obama as Hitler, and maybe worse yet, Hitler as a socialist! Use Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, Norman Thomas, or even Bernie Sanders, but Hitler???

Oh, sorry. It must be true if Limbaugh says it. All my history teachers were apparently mistaken.

The ignorance is stupefying. This is prima facie evidence of how bad education leads directly to wingnuttery.

We The People...voted for Obama, knowing his healthcare policies. (4.00 / 4)
Love the guy in the last picture with the "bring back Arrested Development" sign.  Agreed.  Also, it's nice to see there's at least one protester who doesn't think he's in V for Vendetta, whose directors supported Obama.

The 'Arrested Development' sign... (4.00 / 1)
... makes me wish I had taken time off work, not EXACTLY to make the case for health care reform, but rather, to mock the teabaggers with signs of my own. ;)

Regards,
Corporate Dog

What we have here is a bunch of anti-social groupies. (0.00 / 0)
I know that seems contradictory.  But it's really a matter of antagonism v. adulation.  Not very different from Yankees and Red Sox fans.

I actually wanted politics to become as popular as football.  Republican nuts turning out is not a bad thing.  How do we find out what they're afraid of, if they don't tell us?

Nice work (4.00 / 2)
Someday we'll look back on this and laugh. I vote for starting now.

The genius of the Conservative Establishment (4.00 / 2)
is their ability to convince stupid people to vote against their own self interest.   Affordable heathcare? NO!  A cleaner environment? NEVER!  Freedom of choice?  NOT IN MY AMERICA!!

Looking at them hiding behind the flag - a symbol of liberal progress and anti-conservatism, with photos of Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, two of the most liberal thinkers of their era, is hilarious.  These are the type of people who killed Jesus because he was a "radical" who threatened the status quo.  Yet, here they are, the most anti-democratic, anti-Jesus's teachings, anti-freedom of choice people in NH making clowns of themselves for the world to see and make fun of.

At the heart of every sociopath and narcissist is a Conservative.

Chuck Norris' tear cure cancer (4.00 / 2)
Glenn Beck's tears cause cancer

"Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does." Allen Ginsberg

[ Parent ]
Even if they don't cause it, (0.00 / 0)
They at least make the treatment more expensive.

[ Parent ]
I have to say, while (4.00 / 2)
this diary is very interesting, I do not like the fact you say the tea-partiers have "cognitive disabilities". That is an insult to the developmentally disabled people I know, all of whom supported Barack Obama for president because they know who has their backs.

I saw one former "resident" of the Laconia Scool working very hard in Obama's campaign office.

The people depicted in the photos have problems, to be sure, but please don't mix them in with the DD community.

Point taken. (0.00 / 0)
I did actually think about that, but decided to put it that way because the protesters' "cognitive disabilities" were clearly intentional (if neurotic) choices to willfully disregard truth and reason, rather than developmental disabilities.  It may be that I didn't think about it long enough.

[ Parent ]
developmentally disabled people? (0.00 / 0)
Nah - these idiots are just willfully stupid.

And mean.

[ Parent ]
"The Trojan Horse of Islam" (0.00 / 0)
That sign shows their idiocy like no other:

(a) What has that to do with health care reform?

(b) If you asked them where the term "Trojan Horse" comes from, they couldn't tell you; and

(c) How I wish their fathers had ALL used Trojans years ago!
