ARG on NH-Sen: Hodes Holding Gregg to Under 50%

by: Dean Barker

Thu Jan 08, 2009 at 06:05:31 AM EST

Some poll porn from ARG.  Yeah, it's ARG, so major grain of salt here, and yeah, it was taken over the holiday break, and yeah, you have to go to DiStaso to find it at this point - a political info feed system more suited to 1989 than 2009, but whatever.

The key thing is that Gregg is under the magic 50% line with Hodes, and in general not nearly as invincible as a Senior Senator and Former Governor and Former Representative with a Dynastic Last Name should be:

Judd Gregg: 47%
Paul Hodes: 40%
undecided: 13%

Judd Gregg: 54%
Carol Shea-Porter: 35%
undecided: 11%

(12/27-29, 569 registered voters)

And as a real insight into the changing nature of the state demographic that should have Gregg nervous, the polling among undeclareds: Gregg 46% - Hodes 42%, Gregg 54% - CSP 38%.

Happy 30th Anniversary Judd! (4.00 / 2)
30 years ago today Judd Gregg was sworn in as a NH Executive Council kicking off thirty years of being on the public dole for the Gregg family. My guess is that it adds up to around $5,000,000.00. Do you think we have gotten our money's worth?

as I was saying... (4.00 / 1)
On another note,

this week also marks the 30th anniversary of Democrat Hugh Gallen's first Inauguration as our governor and the swearing in of Gordon Humphrey to the US Senate having defeated Democratic incumbent Tom McIntyre - it has taken us 30 years to get Senator Mac's seat back - but we did it!

who was E.D.? (0.00 / 0)
Gov.Lynch was ED at one time, not sure of the dates.

We represent the Lollypop Guild, the Lollypop Guild, the Lollypop guild.

NHDP ED in 1978? (4.00 / 1)
John Lynch was Executive Director April 1975 to April 1977.

State Chair Joanne Symons was a paid Chair/ED April 1977 to June 1978.

Ricia McMahon was ED June 1978 to January 1981

(I worked for Joanne as the office assistant and when Ricia became ED it was just the two of us until September 1979 when I left to work for the House Democratic Office)

Poll Trolls, Blech... (0.00 / 0)
Folks are "seriously considering" this poll data? "I just laugh when I hear that"

Well (0.00 / 0)
These numbers say it's doable. We knew that, but now we have some data. I agree that it's way early, though.

Nov. 4, 2008 is the best poll out there. (0.00 / 0)

Yes and no (4.00 / 2)
Much higher turnout in presidential years, so the sample is at least somewhat skewed.
