Sununu is Running Scared

by: jwgoodwin

Mon Feb 05, 2007 at 07:30:06 AM EST

(This is now the third mention of Sununu running away from the press. Amazing. - promoted by Dean)

This is pretty funny.  Senator Sununu is so afraid of giving a position on the Iraq War and Bush's plans for escalation -- should he piss off his President or his constituents? -- that he is now running away when he sees reporters.

That's absolutely amazing, and cowardly.

When Sen. John E. Sununu (R-N.H.) saw reporters approaching him last week, he took off in a sprint, determined to say as little as possible about a nonbinding resolution opposing President Bush's troop-escalation plan, which is expected to come before the Senate today.

"You know where I stand," the senator, who is considered politically vulnerable back home, said repeatedly as he fled down stairways at the Capitol. "I'm still looking."

It's hard to tell where a guy is standing when he is running away.  Of course, maybe he is running around because he is looking for his position, or spine.

You all -- the Democratic and progressive activists from the great state of Blue Hampshire -- are the reason he's lost.  Over the past few years there's been an amazing change in the state as you worked your collective butt off.  And the WaPo recognizes it:

Sununu, whose once Republican-dominated state leaned Democratic last year, has drawn four potential Democratic opponents for 2008.

Take a bow, BH.  Sununu is running scared.

Update by Dean: Look who's earned the title of "Fastest Senator"!

Four? (0.00 / 0)
Mayor Marchand (announced), Katrina Swett ("99% in"), State Senator Gottesman, Stonyfield CEO Hirschberg. I guess Gov. Shaheen is no longer considered a "potential opponent."

Look who's earned the title of "Fastest Senator"!

I damn near peed myself!

Not as smart as I think I am, but not as dumb as I look.

Good Job, jwgoodwin (4.00 / 1)

Kind of funny, since I am from New Jersey!  But cool none the less.

Off topic, sorry...

When did we get over 200 users?

Continuing the off-topic, (0.00 / 0)
the thing I've been most proud of is the number and quality of comments we have gotten from day one.  There are blogs I know have like 3 times the registered users and site traffic we have but if you looked at them you'd think they had 1/4, because nobody comments.  Whereas we almost always have a good discussion going in some thread or other.

Hmmm... (0.00 / 0)
It may have something to do with the fact that this site started with a group of active bloggers who were ready and eager to contribute.

A lot of the early folks, like elwood and I, were already heavy commenters on the Daily Kos.  So, we were more inclined to open our loud mouths on here as well.

I think I've already got something like 400 comments on here...

I cannot overstate (0.00 / 0)
how helpful you and Elwood have been to this site, both now and at the beginning. Thank you so much - really.

And now that we are starting to see some other regular contributors, I'm pleased as punch too.

Now, if we can only get some of our regular readers to comment more often...
