Rove Tactics On Display

It’s right from the textbook.

Mitt Romney is trying to move off the defensive by attacking President Obama for supposedly practicing “crony capitalism.”

This is pure Rove: take your own flaws as a candidate and shout loudly that those are the things wrong with the other guy. If you’re a chickenhawk running against a veteran like Max Cleland or John Kerry, attack their patriotism. Some of Mitt’s best friends own professional sports teams, but he doesn’t practice crony capitalism.

Stay tuned next week, as Romney attacks Obama for being an “elitist, self-centered rich white guy.”

One of the was actually named after an unrelated billionaire Mormon hotel magnate.

The other one is a “crony capitalist.”

Romney’s attack is getting off to slow start with a copywrite infringement claim to his latest campaign ad.  It is also difficult to make an argument when you do not have any suggestions to fix the “problem” and he  insists on keeping his bundlers secret.

themselves. Claiborne Deming, John Tyson and Warren Stephens.
Stephens, the Lord of Little Rock, is familiar for having bailed out Bill Clinton after he failed to come in first in the N.H. primary. Before and after Clinton, Stephens funded Bushes, as well as Huckabee and now Willard.
I suspect that Stephens is developing ambitions of his own. Being a banker and broker may well be getting old.  He’s also expanding into media, having just acquired the regional papers from the New York Times.
