“Every barrel of oil that comes out of those sands in Canada is a barrel of oil that we don’t have to buy from a foreign source,” Rick Perry, December 28, 2011, Iowa.

“Next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be president of the United States, please pay attention.” ~ Molly Ivins, 2001.

An open thread to take the chill off.

There is a bit of a ruckus going on in Rochester over a comprehensive rezoning plan.  A rightwing first-term Republican, Cliff Newton, wants the NH House to meddle in municipal politics by introducing a House Petition before the Redress Committee. (It is unclear what the committee could— or should– do about this issue, but Newton and 300 of his fellow Rochester citizens have signed a petition asking us to deal with it.)

He has to go before the Rules Committee first, since (for one thing) the deadline for filing new legislation is long past. The Rules Committee is apparently meeting on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, which is not a surprise.  BUT: here is my gripe: that meeting was not posted in the most recent (December 16 2011) House calendar, even though Rep. Newton knows about it.  I call that “selective transparency.”

has as much chance of becoming the POTUS as Bachmann, Santorum, Gingrich or any of the other loose canons that are part of the TP/GOP today.

I’m waiting for some boytoy to come forward and spill to goods on this one.
